Greysteel Press reviews proposals across a range of historical topics.

We are currently accepting proposals in the following areas:

  • Local and regional history — the histories of towns, counties, neighborhoods, and communities

  • Business and institutional history — company histories, industry histories, and the stories of organizations that shaped their communities

  • National history — broader historical narratives with national scope or significance and a local effect

  • Narrative public history — accessible, story-driven history written for general readers rather than an academic audience

  • Biography and memoir grounded in history — lives and personal accounts that illuminate a particular time, place, or event

  • Microhistory — deeply researched accounts of a single event, place, institution, or moment that reveal something larger

  • Military and political history — conflicts, movements, and the institutions and decisions that shaped them

  • Church and religious history — the histories of congregations, denominations, and the role of faith communities in shaping their towns and regions

  • Cultural and social history — the everyday lives, traditions, and social movements of a particular time or place

We are especially interested in well-researched, narrative-driven manuscripts that bring lesser-known histories to a wider audience.

While we appreciate fiction, including historical fiction, we do not accept fiction submissions at this time.

Please complete the form below, and a member of our acquisitions team will be in touch.

We read every proposal carefully but are unable to respond to all submissions.
